Alcoa of Australia has been named an “Employer of Choice for Women” by the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) for the sixth consecutive year.

Alcoa’s Managing Director, Wayne Osborn said “Diversity is central to our business sustainability.
Alcoa was one of only 131 companies awarded the citation across Australia. Winning this award each year confirms my conviction that by developing a work culture that provides women employees the opportunity to realise their career potential and maintain work/life balance, we all benefit – individually and as a business.” Culture change at Alcoa is built on a raft of work place policies such as part-time work and work at home arrangements. These are constantly reviewed to improve workplace flexibility for all employees. Addressing barriers to women’s full participation in the workforce addresses issues that affect all employees. This is particularly important where we are seeing different generational expectations in the workplace. Mr Osborn said Alcoa had made significant progress on providing career opportunities for women. Now, around 20% of managers at Alcoa were women, up from 3% only a decade ago.
